December evenings look different around here. The light fades earlier, and the house naturally settles as we move toward the end of the day.
Two candles are lit on the table, and another one glows on the dresser. A hymn plays softly in the background. It’s a familiar kind of warmth that my children call “comfy cozy,” and honestly, that’s precisely what it feels like.
Window light drifts across the floor.
Dishes click softly as they’re loaded into the dishwasher.
A child’s footsteps trail down the hall.
Small things. Unassuming things. Yet somehow they carry more meaning than all the busy moments that came before.
Grace tends to arrive like this: quietly, without drama. Not in the grand plans, but in the unscripted corners of the day.
A warm mug.
A quiet song.
A few minutes where no one needs anything at all.
These are the moments that steady me. They make room for breath, for calm, for a bit of beauty to slip in without asking permission.

🌿 What’s Inspiring Us This Month
An old armoire in our conservatoire has slowly become a simple Advent corner this year. Small boxes fill the shelves, one for each day, and our Jesse tree is next to them. It isn’t fancy, but opening a box each day has become something we all look forward to, like a quiet moment to mark the day. It gives us a chance to slow down before the next thing begins and to spend time together focusing on what this season is all about.
If you’re creating your own Advent rhythm, something simple may be all you need: a wreath from a shop you love, a handful of handwritten notes tucked into a drawer for the season ahead.
And if quiet music adds warmth to your evenings, I gathered a few songs here. They are gentle, unobtrusive, and easy to fold into the soft edges of your December days.
