Care often looks like small things.
A sweater folded and set aside.
A meal prepared before it’s asked for.
A blanket tucked around a child who is already half asleep.
Most of this goes unnoticed. It blends into the day and disappears once it’s done.
Much of daily life is held together this way. Plates are passed at supper. Spills are wiped without comment. Sheets are smoothed before anyone else lies down. None of it is remarkable on its own. Necessary all the same.
This kind of care doesn’t call attention to itself. It repeats quietly. It fills the spaces between more visible moments. Over time, it becomes familiar enough to be expected, even relied upon.
There is something steady in that. Something that lasts longer than gestures meant to be seen.
